Last week a doctor from the local Medical Centre was racially abused by the husband of a patient during a home visit in Calasparra.
Today, Wednesday, a protest was held outside the Medical Centre opposing agression against medical staff.
«I was in a state of shock. I couldn´t believe what was happening» says Licet Rosado, family doctor in Calasparra since 2016.
«The racist insults started when I arrived at the home of the patient and the husband opened the door, It was very unpleasant and if it wasn´t for the intervention of the ambulance driver I am sure this person would have hit me.»
The doctor complains that this was not the first occasion she has sufferd agftression, threats and insults for the colour of her skin and that her work companions in the Medical Centre have also suffered unpleasant sitations.
The doctor has reported the agression » in the hope this will never happen again.»
This latest incident is one in a large list of agression against medical staff. The doctor has appealed for reflection, tolerance and respect.
