UNICEF RENEWS CALASPARRA´S KID FRIENDLY STATUS

Calasparra´s status as «child friendly»was underlined by UNICEF this week and has been extended until 2027 as part of the Child Friendly City Initiative of the charity.
The Mayoress, Teresa Garcia, and Caroline Olivares, President of the UNICEF Committee of Murcia, signed a new agreement this week which confirms Calasparra’s role in this initiative.
Under the agreement the Town Hall commits to collaborating in awareness campaigns and to appeal for support in emergency situations, which involve the UNICEF Spanish Committee.
Calasparra’s commitment also includes actions to inform and raise awareness in the local community, especially about small children, of the Convention of Children´s Rights; to promote among their personel knowledge and training in children´s rights; to promote in all education centres the education programme on citizens´rights globally; and to promote childrens’ active and direct participation. Also to ensure that children have their own spaces for the topics which affect them; to have mechanisms and spaces to inform children and adolescents of the progress of their proposals, and to, among other matters, move toards contributing to a State Pact on Infancy,
