Young local artist, Mar Garcia Montoya, beat the other 22 entries in the competition to find a new logo for the Municipal Public Library to run away with first prize.
The logo, pictured here, was described by the judges as as “happy, colourful and modern.”
Mar, who part of the family which run the butchers shop in Calle Lavador, studied fine arts at Murcia University. She is currently in Dubai with her partner and is pursuing the career she always dreamed of: teaching.
Many among the English speaking community know Mar because she offered Spanish conversation classes here in Calasparra. In exchange her students helped her brush up on her English in preparation for her trip to Dubai.

All the entries are on exhibition in the Casa de la Cultura.
