The Murcia region is known as the «market garden» (huerta) of Spain and each year a Junior and Adult Queen of the Huerta are elected, with their Maids of Honour, to be the stars of the Bands de la Huerta 2023 and the traditional processions, in a special float featuring fresh produce from the area.
This Saturday the 24 candidates visited Calasparra to enjoy a «family day» (Día de Convivencia) with activities that included a visit to the Sanctuary and the new Musuem of the Villa, where they were greeted by the Rondalla traditionalo music and dance group, and a meal at the Sanctuary Restaurant.
The Mayoress of Calasparra, Terea Garcia and the Head of the local Department of Culture, Antonio Merino, were also present during the celebrations.
