As part of the extensive Municipal Christmas Programme 2022, presented by the Mayoress and her local government team, there will be an artificial ice rink in the Plaza de la Corredera from December 23.
The Mayoress,  Teresa García, officially presented a porogramme with theatre, films, tradtional culture and gastronomy, music, children´s workshops and, of course a visit from Santa Claus and the Three Magic Kings procession.
The Municipal Belen (nativity scene) (see details below) is a work of art created by the Angel Sanchez Moya, and has 1,500 sculptured pieces which reproduce the customary scenes of Murcian «belenists» from the second half of the XX century.
The Murcia tradition of crafted nativity scenes is extended further in Calasparra with «Belens» in the Sanctuary Foundation and the Merced Church.
Some of the most special traditional moments of a Calasparra Christmas are the arrival of the «Luz de Belen» (the light from Bethlehem) and the launching of the Christmas Chinese lanterns on Christmas Eve.
On January 28 Juan Pelotero and the Innocents will pay their annual visit to Calasparra with japes and jokes and the San Silvestre Charity Fun Run will be on New Years Eve as usual.
