Two brothers have been arrested by the local police for presumed identity fraud and false documentation allegedly to be used to enable one of the detained to take the driving test in place of the other.
The local pòlice and the national police collaborated to follow the tracks of the false documentation and false civil identity papers.
Some months before the local police, on traffic control in Calasparra, stopped a vehicle and on inspecting the documents of the driver found that the photograph on the Foreigners Identity Card and the Driving Licence did not correspond to the driver.
This documentation was laboriously scrutinized and led to his arrest and his complice.
Local police believe the motive for the offences was so the two men, who were similar in appearance, could exchange photos on the resident´s permit so that one, who had residence and was able to speak Spanish, could take the driving test for the other.
