As from two weeks ago any member of the European Union, including UK citizens, wishing to renew their residency papers must attend the Oficina de Extranjeros in Yecla not Murcia, a NEXOnr reader informs.
Several UK citizens have been turned away from the offices based in Murcia and redirected to Yecla on the grounds that Yecla is closer to Calasparra.
There has been no official notification of this change and nothing appears on the webpage for the Oficina de Extranjeros for Murcia or for Yecla. However, interestingly the Yecla webpage contains a lot of useful information, although it is all in Spanish, and the facility to make appointments at the office over the Internet.
Residency papers now take the form of a small card but with no photo.
