The religious brotherhood, Cofradia de la Sangre de Cristo y la Vera Cruz, which organises the events over Easter Week is appealing for people to sign up to carry the thrones and take part in the processions.
The brotherhood encourages first timers to enroll and emphasizes that costumes will be provided.
Every year there is a shortage of volunteers to carry and accompany the massive thrones with the statues of the saints and the processions have been shortened to encourage participation.
If you are interested in taking part and helping to maintain this long Calasparra tradition, which dates back to the 16th century, you can call into the headquarters of the brotherhood in Calle Alegria any Wednesday evening between 7 and 8pm or phone 607 472 214.
Rehearsals will be held on February 17 and 23 and March 2,9,16 and 23.
