The regional Head of the Department of Health has visited the new Out Patients Centre in Caravaca, that will serve the 80,000 inhabitants of North West Murcia, which includes Calasparra.
The 900,000 euros investment includes an out patients department for endocrinology, neurology, pneumology and rheumatology.
The new out patients department cost 50,000 euros for reformations and 82,700 euros for furnishings and equipment.
The number of outpatient consultations for these four specialities are around 6,000 in endocrinology; 3,500 in pneumology; 5,000 in neurology and over 4,000 in rheumatology.
The new out-patients department is in a building 500 metres in front of the Centro de Salud of Caravaca.
Work is also progressing on improvements to the Emergencies at Caravaca Hospital which will have two entrances: one for patients with respiratory problems and another for general emergencies. Each of these entrances will have their own triage, 12 consultation rooms, independent treatment areas and observation beds.
There will also be improvements to the waiting areas including a specific waiting area for children.
Some 140,000 euros will be used to finance work on the Day hospital, intensive care and hospital consultations and 200,000 euros for primary attention in the Centro de Salud.
The work, which was estimated to take 16 months, is near completion.
