There has just been an announcement on the Spanish national news that Spain has reached an agreement with Portugal to unilaterally suspend flights from the UK.
This ban comes into force tomorrow, Tuesday, morning.
Spain and Portugal have followed the example of the majority of EU countries which have already suspended flights from the UK due to the new strain of the Covid-19 virus, which is not thought to be more serious or deadly but is 70% more contagious.
This ban will not affect Spanish citizens or those with residency in Spain.
Controls on the borders between Spain and Portugal and with Gibralter have also been reinforced.
