Video cameras will be erected on the Tierra del Sol urbanization to help in the campaign against fly tippers and the abuse of domestic rubbish containers.
Anyone filmed dumping rubbish, garden waste or builders’ rubble on the perimeters of TDS or throwing garden clipping, prunings etc. in the domestic bins or dumping anything other than garden waste in the new skip provided by the Town Hall face fines of up to 900 euros.
The local authority Municipal Services are also carrying out a massive clean-up of Tierra del Sol today, Tuesday, to remove all rubbish dumped in the area and to empty domestic bins to give a users a “clean start”.
Yesterday the Town Hall agreed to provide a skip for garden waste but warned this service would be suspended if the skip was misused.
The video cameras will control the area and assist the local police to identify the culprits and issue fines.
Notices in English and Spanish will be erected at various points on TDS warning fly tippers of the penalties and a notice at the site of the bins will explain the correct use of the skip and the domestic bins with penalties for misuse.
