It seems the cold calling gas inspectors are at it again! There was a spate of men in white vans with clip boards calling on houses on the urbanizations during the summer and inferring that the “inspections” they carried out were obligatory. This is not true.
While five yearly gas inspections of your appliances are obligatory the customer is able to choose the company that carries out the inspection. Occasionally a gas company will seek permission from the Town Hall to carry out five yearly inspections in the Calasparra area. If this is the case the local police will be able to advise you or we will put the information in NEXOnr.
A reader who lives in the country near Valentin has informed NEXOnr that the “inspectors” currently operating in the area advised them that the tubing and the regulator on his gas appliance needed to be changed. When our reader demonstrated he had a new regulator, bought from a registered dealer in Cehegin, he was informed the regulator was “probably Chinese and not appropriate.” Of course, the “inspectors” had exchange tubing and regulators which they were prepared to install immediately. They also tried to sell a maintenance contract to our reader and advised him of exorbitant charges “if the maintenance contract was not renewed.”
Readers are advised not to allow cold calling companies to enter their homes. If you are interested in the service offered make an appointment for another day and meantime check the company out with local police and/or the internet. However, if you are due an inspection of your gas appliances you could contact the company that supplied the appliance or contact a company
