The opposition party, the Partido Popular, called a press conference yesterday where they claimed that the Mayor of Calasparra was refusing to admit seven motions for debate at the full Town Hall meeting on Thursday.
The motions, which the PP claims have been left off the agenda, include demands for an independent audit of the administrations accounts. This motion was discussed at a previous session but was defeated when the United Left, which has the casting vote, failed to support it.
Among the PP motions is the demand to rescind the contract for the Urbanistic and Patrimony Consultant which the PP claims costs the administration 40,000 euros annually; a payment plan for creditors based on “objective criteria;” and changing the times of some meetings to facilitate opposition members to attend.
The PP is threatening to take legal action against the Mayor and the spokesperson said: “The Mayor should not forget that the PP has the same number of representatives in the administration as his party, that is eight, and that the legislature is very long and this attitude aids no-one.”
