The President,
Pedro Sanchez, has announced the shutdown all non-essential businesses and activities
during from March 30 to April 9.
The vast majority of workers in Spain will be confined to their homes and will
receive “recoverable paid leave” for the whole period and receive their wages normally.
Once the period of confinement has passed workers will be able to recover the
hours gradually until December 31.
The list of essential businesses includes:
– Businesses that supply food goods
– Pharmaceutical centres and basic needs products
– Health centres and services
– Petrol stations
– Food delivery services and priority services
– Services guaranteeing the supply of electricity
– Petroleum and Natural Gas Products
– Critical operators of essential
services such as telecommunications and media services.
