HOW TO KEEP SAFE WHEN SHOPPING

Here is some really useful advice on how to keep safe and protect others when you are out shopping.
Remember to only make journeys that are strictly necessary, one person only per car (unless utterly unavoidable).
Translation as follows:

HOW TO AVOID INFECTION WHILE SHOPPING

1. Before going to the supermarket:-
Plan your menu for several days.
Write a shopping list so as to spend as little time as possible in the shop.
Don’t go at peak shopping times.
Wear protective gloves and don’t remove them until you return home.
Take your own recyclable bags.
Remember not to touch your face.

2. Once out of the house, keep a 2 metre distance from all others including the shop assistants:-
While waiting to enter the supermarket, while in the supermarket, while paying, including those in the queue and the cashier.

3. Other measures:-
Even wearing gloves, avoid touching plastic or metal surfaces: door handles, elevator buttons, etc.
If this can’t be avoided, use a paper tissue between your finger and the surface, and then dispose of it.

4. Inside the supermarket:-
Don’t speak near the foodstuffs.
When handling fruit and veg, wear the disposable gloves provided on top of your own.
If you need to cough, do it into your forearm and away from foodstuffs.
When possible, chose pre-packaged foods.

5. When paying:-
Avoid paying with cash.
Use your bank card, preferably contactless, so as not to touch the keypad when entering your PIN.
Ideally pay with your mobile phone.

6. On arriving home:-
Leave your bags on the floor in the entrance to your home.
Remove your gloves correctly and dispose of them in a closed container.
Wash your hands carefully.
Put your foodstuffs on a work surface that has previously been cleaned with bleach.
Wipe all packaging with a water and bleach solution (20ml bleach, 1 litre water), leave for 15 minutes, then put away.
Clean the work surface with water and bleach solution.
Wash the shopping bags and cleaning cloths in the washing machine at 60 degrees C.
Mop the floor where the bags were left with water and bleach solution.
Finally, wash your hands well with soap and water.
