HIGH TEMPERATURES BRING A PLAGUE OF TICKS

The high temperatures and the “Africanisation” of the climate in the south of Spain have contributed to the plague of ticks in the region according to experts.
Experts claim the ticks are “more abundant every day” and cause problems for animals and in the sphere of public health and call for citizens to take measures to prevent and eradicate them.
Ticks not only attach themselves to animals but also carry viruses which can be very serious for animals.
Ticks are easily visible and are identified by a “red point” which appears on the skin and they can be removed with tweezers.
Ticks can affect humans as well and anyone walking in the countryside are recommended to inspect their clothes for ticks when they return home. Pets can also be vaccinated against ticks although experts say there is “no chemical manner of eradicating them.”
