LANTERNS, WISHES AND CHARITY ON CHRISTMAS EVE

Calasparrians filled the Emilio Perez Piñero Square on Christmas Eve to welcome Father Christmas, launch charity lanterns and send Christmas messages.
The Calasparra sky was filled with tiny lights as Calasparrians queued to buy and then launch Chinese lanterns for charity in an event which has become part of the local traditional Christmas.
There was music in the streets as the Association Band of Music were on parade and children pinned their wishes to the Tree of Desires as they awaited the arrival of Father Christmas and his Elves.
A visit to the Municipal Model Nativity Scene also forms part of Christmas culture of Calasparra.
