Many of us will remember the devastating fire which ravaged one of the prettiest parts of Calasparra and the long night firefighters spent putting out the blaze.
The Sierra San Miguel is slowly recovering and the pilgrimage to the top is an annual local tradition, in which residents young and old, habitually take part.
This year´s pilgrimage will be on September 29 and, if you want to walk with the group, the meeting point is the Chapel of Rest (Tanatorio La Esperanza) which stands on the roadside on the skirts of the Sierra.
Advice is to wear comfortable clothing and strong footwear and to bring a snack and water.
