The second fire in a week in the
countryside of Moratalla has been rapidly extinguished by fire fighters.
The fire, which started on Sunday afternoon in the El Campillo and El Chopillo area,
near the road to Cenajo, destroyed 1,000 sq metres of countryside.
The area is considered “high risk” for fires but due to the rapid intervention
of a special unit from Mula the blaze was put out before it caused serious
damage.
The fire was under control by 8.30pm and extinguished by 10.10pm.
This is the second fire in a week in Moratalla. The first was in the
Barranquillo area and is thought to have caused by a lightning strike.
