Some 63.5 litres of rain per square metre has fallen in Calasparra town centre over the past 24 hours, between 10am yesterday and 10am today, Saturday.
Since Thursday some 73.5 litres per square metre has fallen.
In light of the torrential rain readers are advised to monitor their cellars and basements for leaks and flooding and to ensure all drains are kept clear.
Further, the Met Office warns to keep away from water sources, such as streams, rivers, irrigation ditches etc. and to avoid using the roads unless absolutely necessary.
Motorists are advised to keep to main roads, look out for flood warnings and avoid local and country roads.
Motorists should only undertake journeys which are strictly necessary as some parts of the local area and the region are experiencing serious flooding.
Roads affected by flooding making driving difficult: RM-35 (San Javier-Cartagena); RM-33 (El Albujón-La Aljorra); RM-F28 (San Javier-Torre Pacheco); RM-512 (Abarán-Cieza); RM-513 (Abarán); RM-514, (Abarán-Blanca); RM-520 (Archena-Blanca); RM-B17 (Parque de Ulea); and RM-B19 (Cieza-Calasparra).
In Torre Pacheco the following roads are closed: – Balsicas – Avileses;
– Balsicas – Los Alcázares;- Balsicas – Torre Pacheco in both directions at the rambla de la Maraña.
In the Murcia region: currently closed are RM-F19 (La Tercia-Sucina); RM-F20 (Balsicas-Avileses); RM-F26 (Balsicas-Los Alcázares); and the RM-F33 (the Mojón, in San Pedro del Pinatar). A carriageway, direction Murcia, of the Motorway of San Javier, RM-19, is also closed.
