Urgent action is to be taken to restore the Esparragal irrigation ditch in Calasparra, which mainly serves the local rice farmers, and save water.
The work is part of a 10 million euro project, which also includes improving the supply of drinking water for Las Minas and Agramón in the Hellin area, which was announced by Rafael González Tovar, Government Delegate for the Murcia region in January.
The works, authorized by the Committee of Ministers, will improve the capacity for irrigation in Calasparra, particularly for famers with land along the banks of the River Segura where most of the Calasparra rice is cultivated.
