The audience for the traditional opening speech for the Fiestas of the Patron Saints of Calasparra in the Saints Church on Saturday gave this year´s speaker, José Sebastián Velázquez Moya, a standing ovation.
The speaker delighted the crowded church with his passionate appreciation of the “little saints,” some historic dates interspersed by personal memories.
The next date on the calendar of events in this month dedicated to St Abdón and Senen is the IV Festival of Antique Music which was officially presented in Murcia today.
The two free concerts in the Saints Church on July 23 and 24 will centre on the music of “Tomás Luis de Victoria” in the year that marks 400 years of the death of this illustrious composer from Abulense.
Two groups will take part in the concerts: musicians from the Royal Conservatory of Music in the Hague, Holland, and Danserye, a group of local musicians.
