The Ministry of Ecological Transition has given fracking in Calasparra a
clean bill of health and authorized the “Leo” Project, which searches for hydrocarbons.
The Ministry
has issued a favourable environmental impact report for 2D seismic prospections
(known as fracking) to investigate hydrocarbons in the Cieza, Calasparra,
Jumilla and Hellin areas.
The authorization, which “does not foresee significant adverse effects on the
environment” was published in the Official State Bulletin on Wednesday:
The Ministry has laid down a series of conditions for the authorization.
Calasparra has been declared a “fracking freed zone” by the local authority, a
stance which is supported by Town Halls all over the North West Murcia region.
