The local basketball team, Hospicio Calasparra, has its first opportunity of promotion in its 10 year history.
The team, managed by Ricardo Garcia, beat Juventud Cartagena 57-77 away and 80-66 at home to take their place in the semifinals of the play offs to the First Autonomous League (primera autonómica de Murcia).
They will play Huércal Overa of Almeria at home in the last week of April and away in the first week of May for a place in the final.
