NATIONAL WOMEN´S STRIKE TOMORROW

Tomorrow, March 8, will be the first national strike by women in Spain, called to underline equality issues in a country where women earn nearly 20% less than men, often for doing the same job.
There are more women than men seeking work and the majority of contracts for women are for temporary or seasonal work.
Many women also receive lower pensions than men, often around 600 euros monthly, because they have been employed in temporary work and/or have a gap in contributions due to family responsibilities, and/or because their employers failed to pay their insurance stamp.
Add to this the “Me Too campaign,” for women who have experienced sexual harassment or worse, and the incredibly high level of domestic violence and the number of women killed by partners or ex partners, and clearly there are plenty of motives for the strike.
The slogan of the strike is “Yo Paro,” (I stop).
