A 23 year old runner from Calasparra was gored and tossed by a bull during Wednesday´s bull run sustaining a 30 centimeter wound in his back.
Juan Antonio Espín Montoya, member of the newly formed Association of Runners and Fans, was gored by the bull´s horn just a few meters from the last bend before the Bull Ring.
According to Dr.Ricardo Robles, the youth was very lucky as the bull´s horn entered a delicate part of his back in the lumbar region, apparently, without damaging any major organs.
He was treated by a surgeon in the field hospital before being transferred to the Arrixaca Hospital in Murcia.
Two other people were slightly injured and treated for bruises.
The run took just two minutes and 15 seconds.
