The Mayor of Calasparra and his team can dedicate themselves to working full time for Calasparra as the Superior Tribunal of Justice (TSJ) grants their appeal and declares the meeting, which approved their wages, legal.
It has been a long fight and the Mayor and his three paid councillors had been forced to return to their normal jobs, as their salaries were frozen, and work at the Town Hall part time.
The decision of the TSJ is retrospective thus the appellants will not have to pay back any of their wages and can resume full time work for the community, explained the Mayor, Jose Velez, in a public statement today.
In other legal actions brought by opposition parties against the PSOE governing at the Town Hall, one case has been archived and the other has had leave to appeal refused.
Firstly, the opposition party, Ciudadanos, reported the Town Hall in September for using a credit card to pay affiliates of the PSOE.
The case was archived after the Mayor was able to demonstrate that the Town Hall has not had a credit card since 1999.
The second action was bought by Calasparra Viva and was an appeal against the modernisation of the irrigation systems in Calasparra.
Leave to appeal on this matter has been refused.
