Waiting times for consultants´ appointments and operations in the Murcia region have fallen, however, many patients still wait almost a year, according to the Murcian Health Service report.
In fact, the number of patients that are on the waiting lists for a year or more doubled in 2017 compared to the previous year: 248 to 430.
However, the report suggests that waiting times for consultants are on average 94 days, 6.6 days less than last year and, for operations, are 14 days less.
The consultants with the longest lists are plastic surgeons (141 days);
Otorhinolaryngology (131 days) and neurosurgery (116 days).
Those with shorter waiting lists are dermatology (55); urology (70) and Vascular surgery (78).
On March 31 2017 some 28,409 patients were waiting for surgery compared to 26,710 in December 2016.
