The Guardia Civil and the local police have arrested two people and dismantled clandestine greenhouses used to grow marijuana.
According to the Guardia Civil, they began investigating after receiving information of clandestine activities at the house in Los Milicianos in Calasparra. One of the clues was the strong smell of marijuana emanating from the property where a couple lived with two children. Another was an illegal connection to the electricity network.
When officers entered and searched the property they found the greenhouses, exclusively used to grow marijuana. They arrested a man aged 34 years and a 40 year old woman and charged them with trafficking drugs and having an illegal electricity supply.
Five greenhouses had been installed in the property and officers seized 100 plants, 500g of “buds” and 25g of hashish.
They also took possession of lighting, heating, ventilation and irrigation materials and disconnected the electricity supply.
Both Calasparrians, the detainees appeared before magistrates in Caravaca.
