The Constituional Tribunal has overturned a decision which exempted private solar panel owners in the Murcia region from paying standing charges for connection to the electricity network.
The region had previously successively challenged the imposition of the standing charge on solar panel owners who produce less than 10 mw of electricity annually on the grounds that the regional laws over ruled national laws. This decision has now been overturned.
The Government introduced standing charges for all solar panels owners, including private owners who produce their own electricity, who connect to the electricity network.
The region won a brief victory and was on the point of introducing legislation to exempt prívate solar panel owners from the standing charge.
It is not clear whether the regional government will lodge an appeal.
