WILL THE PP RECUSITATE SINDE ´S LAW?

Following the defeat of the PSOE, Socialist government, in the General Elections last month Sinde´s Law, aimed at closing Internet sites which offer illegal downloads, has been parked in the pending box.
El Pais, a Spanish national newspaper, reported on Thursday that the new draft of the bill was more comprehensive and more far reaching than the original bill and allowed for the almost immediate closure of sites facilitating illegal downloads because they were “in contravention of author´s rights”.
Even though the law is officially off the government´s agenda the new draft has caused outrage amongst Internet surfers in Spain who fear the new Spanish government under the Partido Popular, which will take over in mid December and voted for the original Sinde´s Law, may resuscitate the bill.
