UK citizens resident in Spain for more than three years have the right to vote in the Municipal Elections on Sunday May 28.
All the information on how to register to vote has been published in Nexonr three times over the past few months. You can use the Nexonr search engine to find the information (enter Vote Municipal Elections).
If you have completed the process of registering at the Town Hall you will have received your voting papers and can vote on Sunday. If you completed the process and have not received your voting papers you will be on the registrar and can still vote.
The only political party which has sent Nexonr a manifesto is the PSOE, Socialist Party, and we publish it below. There is some information from the other parties on Facebook and on the internet which readers can read, using the Google translator if required. If the parties send Nexonr their manifestos before the elections we will publish it.
The manifesto below includes a part addrssed to the residents of the Valle del Sol and Cañada Verde on the final page.
THE TOWN HALL OF THE PEOPLE
- DELIVERING WITH EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE GOVERNMENT
- We continue develop active measures to promote economic activity in our town.
- We will expand the forms of direct assistance to entreprenuers.
We will subsidize the purchase of industrial land to enable new businesses to start up in our area. - We will continue to develop free work training in professions which are most in demand.
- We will create a new Employment.
- We continue to collaborate with new businesses opening with the aim of creating an Industrial macrazone.
- We will improve street cleaning and the collection of bulk rubbish and create a new 24 hour ecopark.
- New projects with EU funding
- We will implement an Urban Agenda Project 2023 to design, together with all of the civil society of Calasparra, our dreams for the next 20 years.
- DELIVERING A SOCIAL MUNICIPAL
- We will demand a new and urgently needed Day Centre. We will maintain our commitment to assign the old nursery premises and the basement of the next to the OAPs Residence.
- We will continue to strengthen the Social Assistance destined at families in Calasparra in a risk situation or social exclusion.
- Help for children to end energy poverty, and with the nursery, text books, school meals and educational material. A Social Services which collaborates to ensure no-one is left behind.
- We will expand and improve the Home Help Service
We will promote access to housing by assigning municipal land to cooperatives of elderly people destined for “CoHousing” to impulse new models of living in the community. - We will develop a Plan Against Loneliness, which contemplates volunteer groups being integrated into the social-cultural fabric of the town plus measures to combat loneliness at home.
- We will speed up help to rehabilitate housing
- We will not stop demanding that the regional Government expands the sanitary personnel in the Emergency service.
- DELIVERING A SUSTAINABLE AND HEALTHY MUNICIPAL
- We will introduce subsidies of IBI for self-sufficiency installations
- We will install photovoltaic solar panels in all municipal buildings aiming to carry zero cost to the Town Hall by investing in renewable energies.
- We will continue to promote healthy lifestyles linked to sport.
- We will extend the network for recharging electric vehicles
- We will complete the installation of LED street lighting to 100% in the municipal
We will create a healthy belt of footpaths and bicycle tracks aimed at promoting sustainable movement.
Partial elimination of zones and phases of electrical air cables
We will study how to exploit rainwater resources - We will create new green spaces and children´s parks in Calasparra and Valentin.

We will create an OFFICE FOR THE ATTENTION OF ELDERLY PEOPLE, guaranteeing face to face, personalized attention of all municipal services in order to counteract the digital breach
We will create the II Children and Adolescents Plan
Launch a new Equality of Treatment and Non Discrimination Plan
Expand the points of Attention for Diversity and Violet Points in fiestas and leisure areas
We will fight against Bullying and LGTB phobia in schools
We will create a local Department of Diversity and a councillor responsible for Diversity
We will actively support measures for mental health services
Deliver all the measures foreseen in the Co-regional Plan Against Addictions
5. DELIVERING A SAFE MUNICIPAL
We will continue to collaborate to avoid the illegal occupation of dwellings
We will create a Specialized Professional Unit of the Civil Protection to implement plans aimed to generate the necessary measures in anticipation, prevention, planning and immediate response to emergencies
We will continue to expand the number of Local Police
6. DELIVERING IN CULTURE, SPORT AND TOURISM
We will continue to promote a broad cultural programme for all the public and one that continues to be a reference throughout the region.
We will continue to give constant support to all the cultural entities, associations, groups, artists and authors in order that our cultural motor continues to grow.
We will continue to recuperate and restore our patrimony
We will reach an agreement between the Town Hall and the CHS (Segura Water Board) to expand the River Beach on the Segura creating a new leisure area.
We will launch an exciting tourist Project: GASTROPAISAJES
We will improve the sporting facilities and continue to work for Junior and local sport as we have been doing.
We will reinstate the FERIA DEL LIBRO (Book Fayre)
We will create a Semana Santa (Easter) Musuem and a new seat for the Cabildo Superior de Cofradías
We will create an area for AUTOCARAVANS
7. DELIVERING A PARTICIPATIVE AND TRANSPARENT MUNICIPAL
We will expand the function of the website of Transparency and update the Plan of Citizen Participation
We will continue the Local Advisory Committee on Children and Adolescents maintaining Calasparra as a “Child Friendly City”.
We will start a campaign of participation in neighbourhoods and hamlets.
We will constantly support local commerce, bars and associations
We will create a 23 hour study for training and study in Valentin
We will maintain the links of union with the Twinning Committee
8. DELIVERING WITH OUR FIESTAS AND TRADITIONS
We will continue to apply to CARM for the deserved declaration of Regional Tourist Interest for the Encierros and la Feria Taurina del Arroz de Calasparra.
We will continue to place ourselves as a reference for fiestas, improving the record numbers of last year.
We will create a multiuse Sala of Concerts expanding the forum for musical shows, theatre, functions etc
9. DELIVERING A YOUNG, ATTRACTIVE MUNICIPAL WITH A FUTURE
We will create a Youth Agenda
We will start the processes to declare Calasparra a Science City
We will promote activities in the Youth Leisure Centre
We will maintain help with school transport
We will continue to develop the programme Garantía Juvenil
We will promote teaching languages though discounts and free courses
We will continue to promote the reconciliation between work and family life with holiday schools such as CALASCOLE and the morning and evening classes-
We will launch help for sustainable mobility with help to buy bicycles and scooters

10, PROPOSALS FOR THE VALLE DEL SOL – CAÑADA VERDE
Next Sunday May 28 we celebrate the elections for Calasparra Town Hall and according to the PSOE we are asking you for your confidence to continue delivering our objectives and covering our necessities.
Recently, we have begun an Urban Microbus which serves the Valle de Sol and Cañada Verde free of charge. We will extend this service and maintain it being free of charge.
We will strengthen the control of abandoned animals by putting into action the home for abandoned animals recently built.
We will control colonies of wild cats.
We will improve the cleaning of roads in the urbanizations.
We will introduce language classes free of charge
We will improve the areas of rubbish collection
A few days ago we created a children´s park in the Valle del Sol. We want to continue expanding the green areas and spaces for walking and cycling.
We have included people who live on the Valle del Sol and Cañada Verde in our team so that you have people near to you to report your worries and demands.
We collaborate with MABS, assigning a free space in which to carry out their activities and a subsidy to help with their work
