A webpage where surfers could download live sporting fixtures has been closed down by the United States for allegedly contravening authors’ copyright
Rojadirecta.org, where users could see live sports fixtures from all over the world, was one of the 70 most used sites internationally. The site also carried forums for discussions on the fixtures featured.
Legal proceedings for contravention of author’s rights were brought against the website in Spain but failed as its activities were declared “legal.” However, the US authorities have taken a different stance and have already blocked the site. Anyone trying to access the site will receive a message from the US Justice Department informing them the site has been blocked.
