TOWN HALL WORKER’S WIDOW WINS PENSIONS PAYMENT

Calasparra Town Hall and the insurer, BBVA, have been ordered to pay 60,000 euros to the widow of a local authority employee who died of lung cancer in January 2008.

The payment forms part of a Pensions Plan the Town Hall opened for its employees in 1999.

The Town Hall had claimed the monies were not due to the widow because her husband had failed to notify his employees of his medical condition. The Court found in favour of the widow.
