THIS IS A SERIOUS WARNING, FOLKS – IT IS GOING TO SIZZLE

A pre-emergency plan, which puts all regional and local administrations on high alert and the emergency services on standby, has been put into action in response to the Met Office´s warnings of a heatwave.
With temperatures in Calasparra likely to exceed 40, and on Monday possibly 46C, the authorities have issued the following advice:

Protect yourself from direct sun light on your skin, head and body.
Drink plenty of cold water and ensure that children and the elderly do the same
Eat light meals
Refresh yourself as many times as you need to during the hours of extreme heat
Avoid physical exercise or force during the hottest periods
Stay in cool areas, with fans or AC, as much as possible
Use cool, light coloured clothing
Remember that the high temperatures especially affect children, the elderly and the chronically sick. Call a doctor if concerned or 112 emergencies.
Keep medicines in a cool place as the high temperatures can affect their composition
Avoid moving outside and, if you have to do so, use sun shades etc to provide shade

and recommendations:

For the high risk population, that is those older than 65 years old, and the chronically ill, you should try and avoid them being alone, ensure they take their medicine according to their doctor´s instructions, and, in case they experience sleepiness, vomiting, diarrhoea, sweating etc, take them to hospital or to the local medical centre.
The emergency units and family medicine have trained personnel and ambulances as do the hospitals and medical centres and can provide the assistance you may require.

Sunday will be hot, well into the 40´s, but Monday is the “danger” day with temperatures expected to reach 46C in Calasparra.
Please try and plan ahead so you do not need to go out during these two days. Temperatures will drop again on Tuesday so, if it can wait, don´t do it!
Take care out there!!
