By the end of the weekend temperatures had already fallen sharply by some five degrees and on Monday the chill factor due to high winds made it feel much colder than the forecast of 16 degrees.
While Calasparra has been enjoying wall to wall sunshine the rest of Spain is suffering torrential rain and snow. However, it seems the bad weather will finally arrive as rain is forecast for Wednesday with snow on high ground.
The rest of this week is forecast as overcast with sunny spells. Nighttime temperatures are already several degrees above zero but the next few days are likely to feel chilly.
