Street lighting on all roundabouts, the entrances to Calasparra and some areas of the town will be cut or reduced as part of a municipal energy economy drive aimed at reducing the Town Hall’s electricity bill.
All street lighting on roundabouts will be cut and the lighting on access roads to Calasparra such as the Ramón Jimenez, Carretera Mula and Teniente Florista will be considerably reduced. Although, according to Deputy Mayor Pepe Velez, residents in the old town and town centre will “hardly note any difference” lighting in some parts of the town, such as the Textiles area, will be reduced by some 40%.
Heating in all municipal buildings will also be cut to temperatures around 20 or 21 degrees although in schools the temperature will be stable at 22 degrees. Heating in municipal buildings which do not open during the afternoon will be switched off.
Gradually all light bulbs will be replaced by low energy bulbs.
