The emergency maximum speed limit of 110kph, introduced as an economy measure in the light of massive rises in the cost of petrol, may be extended beyond June 30, central Government has announced.
The measure was expected to be repealed at the end of this month but due to the “enormous savings and the evolution of the price of petrol” the Government has announced there is a “serious argument for maintaining the limit.”
The maximum speed limit on motorways used to be 120kph.
