SONY ONLINE ENTERTAINMENT USERS SHOULD MONITOR BANKS ACCOUNTS AFTER CYBER ATTACK

Around 10,000 users of Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) in Spain have been affected by the latest security problem at Sony and the Spanish Union of Consumers (UCE) is recommending those affected “stay alert” for any unusual activity on their bank accounts.
The UCE advises users who suspect they may have fallen victim to theft as a result of this new security breach, should contact their bank and reclaim the money stolen. “Sony is responsible for the custody of the data which has been stolen and consequently is responsible for any fraudulent use of this information,” says the UCE President, José Angel Oliván.
Sony Spain announced yesterday that this new cyber attack registered on Sony Online Entertainment was an aggression independent of the attack on the Playstation Network last week which is believed to have affected 77 million users.
Sony suspended SOE after the cyber attack which may have filtered the information of 24.6 million accounts and the bank details of 23,400 clients.
