The Mayoress of Calasparra, Teresa Garcia, announced today that the traditional local fiestas held in Calasparra in September will be cancelled this year due to Covid-19.
She said the principal reason for the suspension of the fiestas was to “avoid clusters of contagion in crowds which could put the citizens´ lives at risk.”
The Mayoress noted that there are currently no active cases of coronavirus in Calasparra: “Our job is to make sure it remains this way,” she said.
She also called on local residents to be individually responsible for preventing the spread of the virus in their everyday lives but particularly during moments of celebration.
