REGION REMAINS ON YELLOW ALERT FOR HIGH WINDS TODAY

Caravaca registered the strongest gusts in the whole of Spain yesterday at 129 kilometres an hour, according to the State Met Office which issued an Orange Alert for North East Murcia yesterday that stays in effect until this evening, Monday.
Trees and traffic signals all over the region fell in the path of the wind but, according to official sources, no injuries have been reported. Firemen were kept busy during the day clearing debris from the roads to keep them free for traffic.
Readers are warned the Orange Alert, one higher than the national Yellow Alert issued for the rest of Spain, is still effective today and winds are likely to continue until the early evening.
