People will only recycle if you make it easy for them and in many parts of Europe local authorities provide householders with free different coloured containers for different types of rubbish. Now Calasparra has joined the campaign.
Residents can apply for the different types of bags and containers through the Internet at www.proyectobolsa.es. or at the the Oficina del Atencion al Ciudadano in Calle Mayor. You can download the application from the Internet, fill in your personal details, and answer a series of questions about your recycling habits. This form should be sent to separaryreciclarmucia@gmail.com with your DNI. The form can also be filled in at the Oficina del Atencion del Ciudadano. You can then pick up your bags from the Town Hall on the 5 and 10 of every month.
The bags available are: recyclable plastic shopping bags; cloth bag for bread; four different coloured bags in strong plastic for recycling different residues and a cotton shopping sack. Containers for recycling cooking oil are also be available.
Free recyclable bags are part of a regional strategy: The Three R’s – Reduce, Re-use and Recycle, which is organized through the Departments of Commerce, Consumer and Health.
