The Murcia region is third in the national ranking for property sales registering over 16,000 transactions on the housing market last year.
Some 1,434 transactions per 100,000 habitants, bringing the annual total to 16,148, puts Murcia hot on the heels of Rioja and Cantabria which registered the highest sales of the year.
Property sales nationally grew in 2010 by 6.8% compared to the previous year with 441,368 transactions recorded.
This data, which has been released by the National Statistics Institute, also indicates a fall in property sales of some 25% over 2008 and 2009.
Although the figures for 2010 are more positive and second hand house sales have grown by 12.4% nationally, sales of new properties continues to be sluggish registering a growth of just 1.8%.
