PRE-EMERGENCY PLAN ACTIVATED FOR RAIN AND STORMS IN REGION

The INUMUR Pre-Emergency Plan has been activated in the Murcia region for December 14 and 15 due to the risk of flooding , intense storms, heavy rain and strong gusts of wind.
According to the Met Office, the risk is particularly high in the North West region, that includes Calasparra, where some 100ml of rain in 12 hours is predicted.
The Met Office raised the Yellow Weather Warning issued yesterday for the weekend to Orange for North West Murcia and predicts there could be up to 30 litres of rain per square metre per hour over a 12 hour period, between midnight on Sunday and 3pm on Monday.
The risk of intense storms and winds locally is also predicted.
The Met Officde advises exreme caution, avoid dried river beds and areas where rain collects and flows, and  areas likely to flood. It is also recommended to avoid moving around outside where possible during the period of high risk.
