Rose petals thrown from balconies and rosemary paving the streets herald the annual month´s sojourn of the statue of Our Lady of Hope in Calasparra throughout the month of May.
The pilgrimage from the Sanctuary over the mountains, past the Tierra del Sol and the Polvera, round the roundabout and along the road to the Caverina football ground where a welcome ceremony is traditionally performed
by the local priest.
However, as this is the 15th anniversary of the “crowning” of the Sanctuary’s Virgin there are likely to be changes to the annual calendar. Watch this space for more details.
Also this weekend the statue of Ecce Homo will be returning to his chapel on the Valentin Road. The procession will start from St Peter’s Church at 4.30pm and there will be a special mass on arrival at the chapel on arrival.
Weather predictions for the weekend are mixed with showers expected on Friday and on Sunday. If the rain is heavy these events are likely to be postponed.
