The Met Office, AEMET, has issued an Orange weather warning for exreme temperatures in the North West region of Murcia that includes Calasparra.
Its getting hotter, folks, and its not expected to cool down before Tuesday of next week! Temperatures are expected to reach 40 to 41C in our area today and the weekend. We are officially in a state of «pre-emergency.»
Calasparra Town Hall advises residents to exercise extreme prudence and colaborate to take care of vulnerable people such as the elderly, residents with medical conditions and young children. Please take care of your neighbours.
Last but certainly not least, take care of yourselves. We all love the sun but this is no time for sunbathing, working outside, doing exercise or walking except in the very early morning. Temperatures are not falling much at night! Last night the barometer showed 29C as we were going to bed!!!
Follow all the usual advice: drink plenty of water; avoid alcohol; eat light meals; and stay in the shade or inside with the AC or fans.
Hopefully temperatures will fall back to the mid 30’s next week.
