As Sunday May 1 is the first Sunday of the month of May Mother’s Day in Spain will coincide with the traditional pilgrimage of the statue of Our Lady of Hope from the Sanctuary to Calasparra.
The details of the official programme of events are:
SATURDAY APRIL 30
12 midday bell ringing at all the churches in Calasparra
8pm Premier of the Symphonic Poem in honour of Our Lady of Hope. Cine Rosales
SUNDAY MAY 1
1pm Mass and Blessing of the new cloak in the Sanctuary Chapel
5pm Pilgrimage leaves the Sanctuary
7pm Pilgrimage arrives at the Higueras de Marcelino.
8pm Pilgrimage enters Calasparra to be received by the Association Band of Music and the statues of the Patron Saints of Calasparra. Procession along Calle Socovos including Special Homage to Calle Socovos before entering the Merced Church for a welcome ceremony and then onto St Peter’s Church where the statue will remain for a month.
