NO BURN LICENCE FOR SMALLHOLDERS

Residents with small holdings in the Murcia region no longer need a technician´s reports or a “burn licence” following a new law by central government adopted by the regional government.
The law applies to “micro exploitations” of 0-5 hectares (5,000 square metres) of fruit trees, olives, vines, grapes, rice, vegetables grown outside or in a greenhouse or isolated by palms.
The rules for “small exploitations” apply to the same categories (as listed above) and applies to small holdings of 10 hectares with irrigation and up to 30 hectares without irrigation (secano).
The only requirement in order to burn agricultural residues, which  prejudice the produce specified above, is to send a notice (email) to the relevant authority (in the case of Murcia this would be CARM) giving previous notice you are intending to light a bonfire on your property.

Editor´s Note.
This only refers to agricultural exploitations, such as an olive grove, orchard or vegetable nursery, which fall into the categories and measurements given above. It does not apply to gardens of flowers and shrubs as it aims to protect crops and produce from plagues and pests caused by residues of weeds, crop residues and prunings.
