The Guardia Civil have arrested an inmate of a prison in the region for scamming the mother of another inmate, who lives in Calasparra, of 30,000 euros.
The detained man gained the confidence of the victim during prison visits and promised, falsely, to expedite the release of her son in exchange for money. Despite various payments this never materialized.
The investigation, carried out with the colaboration of the Prison Service, uncovered the fraud and the author was arrested.
In another case in Calasparra a woman has been detained for using a mobile that was stolen last summer in the Municipal Swimming Pool area. She was unable to justify where the mobile had come from and has been charged with recieving stolen goods.
