New speed bumps have been introduced on access roads around Calasparra in a bid to slow down traffic and protect pedestrians.
Local police have also been urged to tighten up on illegal parking which blocks pavements, pedestrian accesses and generally puts the lives of local pedestrians at risk.
The Deputy Mayor, Pepe Velez, speaking on Radio Calasparra has called on motorists in Calasparra to have more consideration for pedestrians and drive more slowly and more carefully.
“We don´t want to fine anybody but illegal parking and motorists who ignore the speed limits make the roads of Calasparra very dangerous for anyone walking,” he said.
Motorists are asked to respect the speed limit in and around the town and to reduce their speed accordingly.
